Places of Interest

Cornwall has many places of interest, gardens and attractions, most of which are within easy reach of Hayle. Here are just a few of them. On arrival, guests will be given a Visitor pack which will contain tourist information on many of these attractions.

Coastal Footpaths
Cornish Mines and Engines – Pool, near Redruth, Impressive steam engines and industrial heritage discovery centre.
Cotehele (NT) – St Dominick, near Saltash Medieval house with collections of textiles, armour and furniture, set in extensive grounds.
Dairyland- A farm-based Children’s theme park.
The Eden Project – near St Austell.
Falmouth, Good shops and Harbour views. River trips to Truro.
Flambards - Victorian Village and big Theme Park, near Helston.
Glendurgan Garden – Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth, Subtropical garden with year-round interest.
The Godolphin Estate – Helston, Historic landscape offering extensive walks with fine views. (The house and gardens are privately owned but are open to the public).
Godrevy – Gwithian, nr. Hayle, Cliffs and sheltered coves with sandy beaches.
Helston. Home of Floral or "Furry" Dance. The Blue Anchor pub in the high street brews it’s own beer (Spingo).
Land's End- Dramatic craggy scenery and tourist attractions
Lanhydrock – NT House near Bodmin, Late Victorian country house with servants’ quarters, gardens and wooded estate.
Lelant Mine and Beam Engine – Trewellard, Pendeen, near St Just, Working steam-powered beam engine.
The Lizard and Kynance Cove – Picturesque unspoilt coastline.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan- Restored Victorian valley and walled gardens.
The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno- Theatre on the cliff.
Mousehole. Picture postcard fishing village.
Dramatic and historic stretch of Cornish coast.
Paradise Park, Hayle A small zoo set in beautiful gardens with play facilities for children (adjacent “Bird in Hand” pub brews own beer).
Pendennis Castle – Falmouth, One of Henry VIII’s coastal forts.
Poldark Mine- Amusements and underground trips.
Pool Leisure Centre. (Between Camborne and Redruth)
Porthleven, Attractive fishing village.
St Anthony Head – Headland with views over Falmouth Bay
St. Ives. The tourist Mecca with many gift shops, Pubs and Restaurants. (We suggest the park and ride train from Lelant Saltings. This avoids parking difficulties and a long walk. The railway runs along the coastline and is very scenic.)
St Mawes Castle- Across the water from Pendennis Castle.
St Michael’s Mount (NT) – Marazion, near Penzance, Rocky island with medieval castle and church.
The Sea Life Centre, Newquay
Seal Sanctuary, Gweek
Sennen Cove. Picture postcard fishing village.
Shires Park a good day out for all the family
The Tate Modern- Art Gallery in St. Ives.
Tintagel Old Post Office and garden (NT) – Fore Street, Tintagel.
Trebah Gardens and Gallery
Trelissick Garden (NT)– Feock, near Truro, Garden set on many levels, containing a collection of tender and exotic plants.
Trengwainton Garden – Madron, near Penzance,
Sheltered garden containing exotic trees and shrubs.
Trerice (NT) – Kestle Mill, near Newquay, Elizabethan manor house and garden.
